I have a purple pitcher plant and I’ve had it for several years now. I really don’t remember how I came about this. This year, for the first time ever, it started to grow a flower stalk. It did that and then the whole plant proceeded to just die. The flower never even bloomed. I need to do more reading, but, if flower stalks in these plants use as much energy as they do in flytraps then they can be very detrimental to the health of the plant. I probably should have cut it off. I left the plant for maybe a month or so. Luckily, I didn’t just dump it out. To my surprise, I noticed that there is a new pitcher growing.
